Mahama can’t fix the economy – Asamoah Boateng

The government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under President John Dramani Mahama cannot handle the economy of this country, therefore, should be voted out of power, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a former Minister of Information, has said.

Speaking in an interview with Class 91.3FM’s Paa Kwesi Parker-Wilson, on the sidelines of the launch of the manifesto of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday October 9, at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, Accra, Mr Asamoah Boateng said during the past four years under President Mahama, the local currency had depreciated drastically against the major trading currencies, especially the dollar. This situation, he said, was a clear case of incompetence on the part of the government and the president.

He said: “This is an incompetent government that can’t handle the economy. Industries are collapsing because of the ‘dumsor’ (power crisis). They claim they have fixed the energy crisis but that cannot be true – they are doing it because of the elections.”

“They say they have created jobs but when you ask them where the jobs are, they tell you it’s in construction…but these jobs they don’t stay. These are no jobs.”
