Sam George Reaffirms Commitment to Data Price Reduction by End of 2025

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring a significant reduction in mobile data prices by the end of 2025, promising that ongoing efforts will soon bear fruit for Ghanaians.

Speaking on Tuesday in response to mounting public concern over the high cost of data, the outspoken MP assured citizens that his earlier pledge remains unchanged.

“My promise was by end of the year, we will see prices drop, and my promise remains, just trust the process,” he stated.

Sam George, a leading advocate for digital inclusion and affordability, has been at the forefront of calls for reforms in Ghana’s telecom sector. In recent months, he has led parliamentary discussions and stakeholder engagements aimed at reviewing data pricing models, increasing market competitiveness, and reducing regulatory bottlenecks.

He emphasized that while the process has taken longer than many expected, concrete steps are already in motion, and Ghanaians should begin to experience tangible relief in data costs before the close of the year.

“We are working closely with the National Communications Authority, the Ministry of Communications, and other key industry players to implement measures that will drive prices down without compromising service quality,” he added.

Consumer advocacy groups have welcomed the renewed assurance but continue to urge greater transparency and faster action, especially as digital access becomes increasingly essential for education, business, and social connectivity.
