People of Wa West commends President Kufuor

Wa, Dec 3, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Dorimon and Wechiau Traditional Areas in the Upper West Region, have expressed their gratitude to the government for creating the Wa West District with Wechiau as the capital.

They expressed confidence that the government would provide the necessary support, resources and funding for the early and smooth take-off of the new district.

These were contained in a statement signed by Naa Sohamininye Danaa Gore II, Paramount Chief of the Dorimon Traditional Area, Naa Danyagiri, Walamani, Divisional chief of Takali Traditional Area and representatives of Wechiau and Dorimon assembly members.

The statement said President Kufuor and the government had demonstrated that they were for development, irrespective of partisan politics, saying, “By creating the Wa West District, among others, the President has amply demonstrated that he is a real father of the nation who does what is right devoid of political bias or partisan consideration”.

The people pledged their support to the government to promote a peaceful atmosphere that would enable them to develop their human and natural resources to bring basic infrastructure to the area.

“We are determined to contribute our quota to the rapid improvement of life and living conditions in the Upper West Region and the overall national development effort,” the statement added.
