Mahama ‘lying’ to us – Konadu

The “unprecedented” infrastructural development claims by President John Mahama and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) are just “lies”, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has said.

Mrs Rawlings, who is the flag-bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), told Class91.3FM’s Paa Kwesi Parker-Wilson in an interview that Mr Mahama was trying to hoodwink Ghanaians with his government’s purported achievements.

“I don’t see what the president is talking about because he is lying to us and we won’t accept it,” Mrs Rawlings said.

Mrs Rawlings also accused the Mahama administration of misplacing priorities. “I saw them [government] commissioning a school in Derma. … The population in Derma is not more than 300 people [but] the school that has been put there can house over 5,000 people. Is that what you want your monies to be used for?” she questioned.

Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings expressed confidence that her party would cause an upset in the December 7 polls, saying the apparent two-party hegemony existing in the country would be toppled. “You go to some countries, there are say two or three parties that have entrenched themselves, then suddenly one comes and sees everybody off and they become the government,” she stated.
