Techiman to get Lions Club

Techiman, Dec 2, GNA – A branch of the Kumasi Lions Club would soon be inaugurated at Techiman to assist diabetes patients.

Mrs. Michaela Kusi, President of the Kumasi Royal Lions Club, said this at a get-together of members of the Techiman Prospective Tano Lions Club at Techiman.

She said the club has good will towards the development of the district and appealed to prospective members not to think about what the club would do for them but what they would contribute to make the club to achieve its aims.

The chairman of the Prospective Techiman Tano Royal Club, Mr. Nicholas Adusei, said the club has lined up a number of activities aimed at contributing to the development of Techiman.

Mr. Joshua K. Owusu-Brempong, General Secretary of the Techiman club, said the club, in collaboration with the parent club and some international donors had spent 11.5 million cedis on a programme for diabetics.

Out of the amount, 3.5 million cedis was used in investigating the problem of diabetes, five million cedis for the provision of drugs to people living with diabetes, while three million cedis was spent on resource persons who counsel the patients at workshops.
