Ahinsan-Atonsu bridge caves in

The bridge on the main Ahinsan-Atonsu road, a suburb of Kumasi in the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti region, has caved in posing a threat to residents.

The bridge which was repaired a year ago after several reports on the Ultimate Breakfast Show has now become a death-trap to residents.

The base of the bridge, located at the Susa River has been over exposed as a result of continuous rainfall and erosion constantly eating away the sand.

Checks by the Ultimate Breakfast Show crew this morning indicate that the bridge has caved in again eroding into the main road due to rains, whiles the fence that was erected to prevent the erosion has caved in.

In an interview with some of the residents and commuters, they feared the untoward will happen in the area if the bridge is not worked on.

According to them, all activities become a standstill whenever it rains.

Residents have been accused of dumping refuse in the river at night-hours.

They called on the government to repair the bridge.
