Sec Gen. of C’wealth confers with President Kufuor

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday held closed door meeting with Mr Don McKinnon, Secretary General of the Commonwealth at the Castle, Osu.

Mr McKinnon is on his way to Abuja, Nigeria to attend this year’s Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled for December 5 to 8. Welcoming Mr McKinnon, President Kufuor said members of the Commonwealth were looking forward to the Abuja meeting and was optimistic that decisions on important global issues would be done through consensus.

“This year’s meeting would make democracy more relevant to the people”, he said.

The Secretary General commended Ghana for her tremendous contribution to the Commonwealth especially human resources to the Secretariat.

He said Ghana’s contribution to the Commonwealth was genuinely reflected in the well-educated and committed people.
