Nana Addo shakes Ashaiman

The foundation of ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ashaiman was shaken on Friday, following a colossal crowd which poured out onto the streets to welcome Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on his tour of the Greater Accra Region.

The Ashaiman populace proved that, indeed, the party is poised for political victory in 2016.

The crowd flooded the streets of Ashaiman to showcase their love for the party, thereby, causing massive vehicular traffic for their party leader to easily travel through the municipality.

Elated-looking people from all corners of the constituency were seen singing songs and dancing to the party’s song amidst chanting ‘change is coming’.

Sources within the ruling party indicate that both national and constituency executives are having sleepless nights since the day the flagbearer left the area.

The party is still wondering as to how the opposition leader was able to galvanise that massive crowd in its stronghold.

The NDC has held the Ashaiman parliamentary seat from 1992 until in 2001 when confusion rocked the party, paving way for the NPP candidate to sail through.

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Alfred Kwame Agbesi, won the seat back to the NDC since the 2004 elections and has maintained the seat.

He lost his bid to represent his party for the fourth time to Mr Ernest Norgbey, who is now the parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.
