Konadu will meet filing deadline – Aide

The presidential nominee of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, will beat the deadline for the filing of nominations to contest for president in the December 7 elections, Dr David Sunu, an aide to the former First Lady, has revealed.

According to him, Mrs Rawlings is almost done with the filling and endorsement of the form, with just five days to the deadline.

It will be recalled that the Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings from contesting in the 2012 elections for failing to properly complete her forms.

The then EC Principal Public Relations Officer, Sylvia Annor, told journalists the NDP flag bearer’s forms at the time did not contain the requisite number of endorsements from across the country.

But speaking in an interview with ClasssFMonline.com on Monday September 26, Dr Sunu, who is also contesting as MP for Agotime Ziokpe on the ticket of the party, said her disqualification was deliberately orchestrated in order to prevent her from contesting.

That notwithstanding, he said: “We will meet the deadline for the 2016 elections. We are left with a few things to do; hopefully we should be able to finish within two days.” “We will meet the deadline.”
