Man remanded for defiling four-year-old girl

Peter Owusu, 30, has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a four-year-old girl at Nungua.

Owusu, an electrician, who was charged with defilement, has pleaded not guilty.

Owusu was remanded into lawful custody by the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku to reappear on October 2.

The court before adjourning took the evidence of two prosecuting witnesses.

Police Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is the father of the victim and together with the accused they all reside in the same vicinity at Nungua.

Inspector Atimbire said on the night of September 3, the accused person found the victim loitering at Nungua Authority Area and lured her into his room and defiled her.

A witness alerted the complainant who confronted the victim and she narrated her ordeal to her father.

Prosecution said the complainant reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service and a medical form was issued to him to send the victim to the hospital to seek medical attention.
