Empress Gifty Slaps Agradaa With 20 Million Cedis Suit Over Slander

Popular Ghanaian gospel musician and television host Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye has filed a GHS 20 million defamation suit against former priestess-turned-Evangelist Patricia Aseidua, widely known as Agradaa.

The lawsuit, filed at the High Court in Tema on May 20, 2025, stems from allegations of slander and libel made by Agradaa via various social media platforms. Empress Gifty, who is also the host of United Showbiz, a late-night weekend entertainment program on UTV, claims the statements have damaged her reputation and caused significant emotional and professional harm.

Represented by lawyer Sam Kyere of Ossei-Aidooh Akpokavie Kyere & Co., the plaintiff is demanding:

•GHS 20 million in damages for defamation,

•A perpetual injunction restraining Agradaa and her associates from making or publishing further defamatory remarks,

•A court order for all defamatory videos and audios to be taken down from Agradaa’s social media handles, and

•Reimbursement of legal costs and professional fees.

Agradaa, who has rebranded as an evangelist after years as a well-known traditional priestess, has eight days from the date of service to respond to the writ. If she fails to do so, the court may proceed to rule in her absence.
