Nalerigu-Nakpanduri road in deplorable state

The road from Nalerigu to Nakpanduri in the Northern Region is in a deplorable state as complaints from residents and commuters mount over how economic activities have been affected in both areas as a result.

The bad nature of the road connecting the two districts has made it difficult for vehicles to travel that stretch.

Although President John Mahama recently announced that work had begun on the route, much was yet to be done by the contractors on site, as residents bemoan the slow pace of work on the stretch.

Speaking to Class News’ Northern regional correspondent, Mohammed Abdul Dahim, in an interview, a group leader in the Bunkpurugu community, David Zamana, said the stretch was in a terrible state and had affected all activities in the area, especially during the rainy season.

He added that contractors working on the roads needed to quicken the pace of work because it was having a negative impact on businesses and agricultural activities in the area. Mr Zamana called on the government and the Members of Parliament in the two areas to intervene.
