Nurses, midwives demonstrate over unpaid allowances

Over 500 Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association are currently demonstrating in principal streets of Accra over government’s failure in resolving their concerns as trainees.

The group converged at Circle-Obra Spot and later moved to the central business district, heading towards Hearts of Oak park and will later present their petition to the chief of staff.

The demonstration was rescheduled from Monday, September 19, to Thursday because the Police denied them permission to embark on their protest.

The group bemoaned that government for over three years now has failed to pay their allowances due them and that some of them who completed in 2015 have still not been posted.

‘Nothing has been done about our concerns, we cannot continue to depend on our parents,’ they said.
