Promises made, promises broken – NPP reacts to NDC’s 2016 manifesto

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), yesterday held a press conference in reaction to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s 2016 manifesto which was launched over the weekend in Brong Ahafo region.

The press conference which was dubbed, “Promises Made, Promises Broken” was addressed by the party’s campaign Policy Advisor, Boakye Agyarko.

Mr. Agyarko based his address on four areas in which the NDC´s manifesto was hinged namely; putting people first, strong and resilient economy, responding to social infrastructure and improving transparent and accountable governance.

Touching on President Mahama´s ‘Putting People First’ promises, the NPP’s Agyarko claimed that the promises were empty stating that, the president rather placed corruption first and therefore could not be trusted in fighting the menace.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko added that there were some promises the president made at the manifesto highlights which were absent in the launched document. Notable among them was Mahama’s promise of free education for 120,000 Senior High School boarding students in the public sector.

Under improving transparent and accountable governance, Mr. Boakye Agyarko jabbed President Mahama, stating that the NDC´s leader was rather investigated on corruption by his predecessor, John Atta Mills.
