Techiman NCCE releases provisional plan for formation of civic clubs

The Techiman District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has drawn up a provisional programme for the formation of civic education clubs in identifiable groups and associations in the district.

Mr Pierre Kwabena Ankomah, Techiman District Director of the Commission told the Ghana News Agency that existing groups and associations would be used as vehicles to form the clubs just as the Commission had done in schools.

This would make it easy for the Commission to use the associations and groups to create the clubs within them instead of individuals, he said.

“Forming a group independently makes members feel that the Commission must offer some incentives to enable them to function, he said, citing the example of Forikrom ‘Kunungu’ musical group, within which the Commission had successfully formed one.

Mr Ankomah said almost all Junior Secondary schools and Senior Secondary schools in the area had been covered and that the Commission had plans to cover other five zonal areas of the district.

These are Tuobodom, Offuman, Aworowa, Nsuta and Tanoso, he said. GNA
