Power Cut In Parliament

Accra (Greater Accra) 4 Dec. ’97 A power failure within the state house complex today disrupted the work of parliament forcing the house to adjourn. Mr.. Isaac Adjei-Mensah, Minister of works and housing, was on the floor answering the first of four questions on the Keta Sea Defence Project. Keta gods, Keta gods, the questions have elapse,” some members were heard in the dark as Mr.. Adjei-Mensah withdrew from the microphone to take his seat. The four questions stood in the name of Squadron-Leader Clend Sowu, (NDC – ANLO) . The Minister said the Keta sea defence project is of immense importance to the country. He said he first realised the plight of residents in 1960 when he visited the township as a student. He said the project covers ADA and a different package is being organised for prampram. Mr.Ajei-Mensah said since the project is an environment one, a salt industry that was initially included has been canceled. He said a technical team will this week conclude negotiations on the price for the construction work on the project. With regards to a probe on some expenditures on the project, the minister said the report of probe has been submitted to the office of the President. gri
