Marry a woman from B/A or forget presidency – Aspirants told

Host chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto launch, Mr. Opoku Atuahene says presidential candidates must either marry a native from the Brong Ahafo region or forget about the presidency.

Assuring President John Dramani Mahama of a ‘one touch’ victory in the upcoming presidential polls, the NDC Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman said a wife from the region will boost the chances of an aspirant who harbours presidential ambition.

“Anyone who wants to be president in Ghana must marry from Brong Ahafo” he said at the launch of the party’s manifesto at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Mr. Opoku Atuahene also pledged to increase the party’s parliamentary seats from 16 to 30.

Clad in red, white, green and black party colours, thousands of supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are awaiting patiently for the main event; the manifesto launch.

The venue, according to the National Chairman of the NDC, Kofi Portuphy, was strategically selected to help the party win more votes in the swing region.

Youth Will Be Safe Under Mahama

On his part, the National Youth Organizer of the ruling NDC, Sidi Abubakar challenged the opposition leader of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to outlined successes chalked by his party during Ex-President Kufuor’s era.

He charged the electorates [mostly the youth] to reject the NPP and its leader in the December 7, election.

According to him – the youth has seen some tremendous transformation in Mahama-led administration and must be maintained.

“The youth will be safe under president Mahama, unlike Nana Addo” he said.
