Farmer charged with murder of his wife

Akim Oda, Nov. 22, GNA- The Akim Oda District Magistrate court, has remanded in police custody a farmer who allegedly murdered his wife at Adakuma near Akim Achiase in the Birim South District.

Yaw Nkrumah, the accused whose plea was not taken would re-appear on December 3.

Police Chief Inspector J.E. Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah, that the deceased Esther Akosua Gyekyewaa, a mother of three, was constantly assaulted by her husband.

On November 17, this year the deceased who could no longer tolerate the husband’s behaviour decided to leave her matrimonial home to go and stay with her parents at Adansi Fomena in Ashanti.

Police Chief Inspector Appiah said the accused chased the wife on the way and hit her several times on the head with a stick until she dropped dead.

Following police investigations, the accused was arrested and charged with the offence.
