Security officers accused of stealing iron rods

Sekondi, Nov. 21, GNA – Maxwell Agyei and Afriyie Boateng, both security officers at Sonitra Construction Company Limited, were on Thursday arraigned before a Sekondi Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing iron rods belonging to the company.

They both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to steal and stealing and were granted five million cedis bail each to re-appear before the court on December 17, 2003.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere, told the court that at about 0800 hours on Tuesday November 18 this year, when George Klutse, the Chief Security of Sonitra Construction Company Limited reported for work at the offices of the company at Essikado, he was informed that thieves had stolen 165 pieces of iron rods from the site.

He said Agyei and Boateng who were on duty at the offices the previous night were questioned but they could not give any tangible reasons as to how the iron rods were stolen.
