Korle-Bu Hospital mortuary closed down

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA- The management of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has closed down the mortuary for the next two months for renovation.

The closure was to overhaul and maintain the cold room in the morgue to enable the hospital offer quality services to its clients.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday and signed by Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital said some corpses had been evacuated from the morgue to the Ebenezer Funeral Parlour at Weija.

It said the corpses would be kept there for the two months when the work was expected to be completed.

It said before the evacuation of the corpses from Korle-Bu the facility was inspected and certified by the Ministry of Health as suitable for keeping corpses.

The statement said the management has taken measures to deliver corpses to claimants and families and relatives that had corpses there and they would not be required to pay any extra monies for the re-location.

“The hospital is fully responsible for the collection of corpses from Weija to Korle-Bu for those who want to collect their bodies at the hospital”, the statement added.
