NADMO presents relief assistance for Akwatia fire victims

Akwatia (E/R), Nov 18, GNA – The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Kwaebibirem District has presented relief items to the victims of a recent fire disaster at Akwatia on Monday.

The items, which were presented by the Deputy District Co-ordinating Director Mr Godwin Dekpo, included 100 blankets, 17 student mattresses and five bags of rice.

The fire gutted 18 out of a 37-room compound house on November 15. It took personnel of the National Fire Service from Akyem-Oda and local volunteers over an hour to bring the fire under control.

A spokesman for the victims, who received the items thanked NADMO and the well wishers who, in diverse ways, are helping them to overcome their grief and appealed for more donations from the District Assembly, churches, benevolent organisations and individuals.
