Man, 29, beheads mother

A 29-year-old man identified as Baba Yara and suspected to be mentally challenged has been arrested by the Tepa Police in Brong Ahafo for decapitating his mother, Maame Sallah in the early hours of Saturday September 3.

The suspect further dismembered the limbs of the woman. The suspect was arrested upon an alarm raised by residents in the area.

Police Chief Inspector for Tepa, Edward Kojovi who confirmed the incident to Class FM explained that the body of the deceased was at the Police Station as of the time of the interview but added that the police cannot establish the mental status of the suspect.

The gory incident took place after a misunderstanding between the suspect and his mother. Residents of Tepa Esushyiaye where the incident occurred have been thrown into a state of shock.

An eyewitness, Kofi Adusei, who explained the details of the incident said the suspect decapitated his mother as she tried disarming him of a knife he wielded. “He cut her two hands and the two legs like he was slaughtering an animal,” Mr Adusei added.
