I look fresh, handsome after my hunger strike – Ampaw

Maverick Lawyer Dr. Maurice Ampaw says he’s benefited immensely from his week-long hunger strike in protest of the remission of the Montie trio.

The controversial lawyer, who claimed he survived only on coconut water during the period, says he’s looking more handsome at the end of the fasting exercise.

Soon after President John Mahama announced a remission for the jailed Montie 3 contemnors, Salifu Maase, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Gunn who were sentenced to four months imprisonment for scandalizing the Supreme Court, Dr Maurice Ampaw declared a week hunger strike in protest of the President’s move.

Speaking to Kasapa FM, the popular lawyer who ended his fast on Wednesday, August 31 stated that he’s realized he did not do himself any disservice by taking the decision to fast.

“I have ended my hunger strike successfully. I’m feeling very healthy, because once I denied myself food the poisonous substances that were contained in my body were washed away by the coconut water which I survived on during the period. My doctors advised me to take in coconut water which has nutrients that keeps the body well. You can see I’ve lost weight, I used to have a pot belly but it has reduced and my body colour has been enhanced because I was most of the time indoors. I avoided dehydration so my body has been kept in shape.”

He said he’s rescinded his decision to campaign against President Mahama claiming his ‘know your rights campaign’ he’s soon to embark on, will be negatively affected since he may be perceived to be sponsored by the opposition to ruin President Mahama’s political fortunes.
