Fire guts Tepa EC office

The Electoral Commission (EC) office at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North district of the Ashanti Region has been razed down by fire.

Properties worth millions of Ghana cedis were burnt to ashes on Monday morning.

According to eyewitness, Nana Yaw Dwomfour, the fire started around 1:am destroying all valuable items in the office including Biometric Verification Machines (BVM).

He said fire fighters arrived at the scene to douse the fire which almost spread to nearby buildings.

It is unknown what caused the fire but eyewitnesses suspect foul play.

The Tepa Police Command has commenced investigation into the cause of fire.
