Nat’l Accreditation Board lists 3 non-accredited universities

The National Accreditation Board (NAB) has raised concerns as regards the operation of some non-accredited tertiary institutions in Ghana.

According to the Board, Alpha College of Technology, which operates at the Accra Academy campus and Oyarifa, together with RAMA University, which operates at Ring Road Accra, and Swiss Management Centre are not recognized by the Board and therefore should cease operations.

NAB says that as required by Act 2007 (Act 744) and Tertiary Institutions Regulations, 2010(L.I1984), these institutions do not qualify to operate as tertiary institutions. The Board therefore warns the general public, especially residents of Accra and its environs, to desist from engaging enrollment in the aforementioned institutions.

The programmes they run should neither be patronized, the Board said in a release over the week. Any person that does business with these institutions does so at his/her own risk, the release stressed.
