Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, on Thursday, appealed to traditional leaders to support government to sustain the peace, before, during and after the general election.
“We need the peace to be able to pursue our developmental agenda and the massive infrastructural development that has taken place throughout the country and still on-going,” he said.
Alhaji Fuseini made the appeal during a capacity building workshop for chiefs organised in Tamale by the Northern Regional House of Chiefs.
He urged the chiefs to advice their subjects to propagate the message of peace and the youths not to engage in unlawful activities.
He advised politicians to avoid using offensive words and personal attacks during campaigns but should engage in issues-based electioneering to further the peace and development of the country.
Alhaji Fuseini advised Ghanaians to use dialogue to resolve their differences and always put away political, ethnic and religious differences.
Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, the President of the Northern Region House of Chiefs, called on the Northern Regional Minister and the Regional Security Council to address the unlawful activities of the youth who parade the streets with unlicensed motorbikes creating danger and insecurity on the roads.
He urged the security personnel to be fair and firm when dealing with crime devoid of personal or political biases.
