E.P. Church Celebrates 150th Anniversary

The President, Flt. Lt. Rawlings, has asked the two E.P. Churches, the E.P. Church, Ghana and the E.P. Church of Ghana to put all traces of pride and rancor aside so that with true love, humility and respect they can achieve a respectful and united E.P. Church. He was speaking at a thanks-giving service at Peki Blango in the Volta Region at the weekend to mark the 150th anniversary of the E.P Church, Ghana. President Rawlings said something precious is missing so long as the rift between the two E.P. Churches remains. He said it is sad that the anniversary has not been crowned with the full joy of unity. President Rawlings, however, was hopeful that unity would eventually be achieved. The President noted that too many people regard formal church service as a weekly social occassion, a sign of responsibility and a function at which to see and be seen and to demonstrate one’s status in the community. President Rawlings was of the view that church service must be reflected not only in the church leaders not to allow permissiveness among their congregation for the fear that they will lose the membership of those they criticise of wrong-doing, adding that the church is the body of God and not a society. The Head Pastor of the Church, Rev. Francis Graham, who dedicated the choir robes stressed the importance of songs in the church and the healing ministry. He asked the choristers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of God and serve as instruments of his praise.
