Woman abandons baby at Akyem Asiakwa

An unidentified woman Tuesday dawn abandoned her two-week-old baby on the street of Akyem Asiakwa in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern region.

The incident occurred at about 2:40 am when a resident heard the baby crying.

According to the resident, he woke up and trailed the cry of the baby only to find the male toddler wrapped in a white cloth and abandoned in the street.

The traditional leaders in the community were immediately who subsequently reported the incident to the police Tuesday morning to take over the baby.

The Asiakwa Police have begun investigations into the incident.
