Obinim charged with physical and verbal assault

The General Overseer of International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has been charged with physical and verbal assault after flogging two teenagers in his church last Wednesday for fornication.

One other person whose name is immediately not known but is a close associate of the preacher has also been charged with abetment of crime.

The duo have been handcuffed and transferred from the Tema Regional Police Command to the National Headquarters in Accra after they reported to the station on Tuesday morning.

Obinim had gone to the Police to answer to charges brought against him by Oye Lithur’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection as well as three other persons including Human Rights Lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu.

Bishop Obinim has become a subject of public discussion after flogging two teenagers in his church last Wednesday for fornication. The duo, he claimed, were his adopted children and therefore has every right to discipline them when they go wrong.
