HIV/AIDS awareness torch reaches Jasikan and Hohoe

Jasikan, Nov 12, GNA- The HIV/AIDS torch passed through Hohoe and Jasikan to the Northern Region on Monday and Tuesday to rekindle awareness about the pandemic.

Mr Sylvanus Ayigbor joined Mr Joseph Ayivor, the national bearer at Ho where the flame was handed over to Mr James Komla Dogbe, Hohoe District Chief Executive (DCE) and Mr Solomon Kwame Donkor, the Jasikan DCE at Jasikan.

At both functions, Mr Pelmac Atiase, event co-ordinator of the Ghana AIDS Commission, gave the World AIDS Day message that exhorted Ghanaians to prevent AIDS by avoiding unprotected sex.

The two DCEs said the development of the nation would come to a standstill if the disease wipes out its workforce including those between 15 to 50 years that is the endangered group. At Jasikan, where a durbar was held to welcome the cyclist and a kente stole which bore the inscription, Jasikan District Supports the crusade against HIV/AIDS was presented to Mr Ayivor.
