Ghanaian youth have been advised to eschew all forms of evil and not to allow politicians to use them as tools to foment trouble during the impending general elections.
They must also live morally upright lives and to channel all their energies towards activities that would help to contribute their quota to national development.
Reverend Raphael Mac Attih, the Synod Clerk of the Global Evangelical Church, gave the advice as the Main Speaker at the 2016 Youth Camp held at the Volta Regional Capital, Ho.
The five-day Youth Camp was on the theme: “The “Kingdom Lifestyle”, and brought together over six thousand young men and women drawn from all the fifteen presbyteries of the Church.
Rev Attih said the youth who are the nation’s future have the key to reverse the unfortunate and perverse trend in the world today.
He said “Jesus did not leave his disciples in doubt as to the quality and manner of life they should live here on earth. Clearly on the mount, He spelt out the kingdom principles for living. These are the things to pursue as the end of the age draws close if our life and service will be commended when he returns. Let us be resolved in our hearts that Jesus is the only correct pattern that the Father set before us.”
The Synod Clerk mentioned righteousness, humility and meekness as some virtues of the Kingdom of God and urged the youth to pursue such virtues.
Right Rev Dr Setorwu Ofori, the Moderator of the Church in a sermon themed: “Let Go and Pursue” at the Thanksgiving Service to climax the Youth Camp, urged the youth to depart from all negative tendencies in their lives and pursue righteousness.
He said as Kingdom children, there was the need to let go of vices such as anger, unforgiveness, self pity, unworthy relationships, indecent dressing saying God has given them the power to overcome them all.
The Moderator urged the youth to go back as worthy ambassadors of Christ and for that matter the Global Evangelical Church, living all that they were taught during the five days stay at the Camp.
Rev Hoenyeame Arise Kodzo Agbesinyale, National Youth Coordinator, expressed appreciation to God for His faithfulness and for sustaining him successfully during his eight years tenure in office and also lifting the Ministry to a higher level.
He entreated the youth to support the incoming Coordinator, Rev Emmanuel Kporfor in all his endeavours in order to move the Ministry forward.
