NPP raises red flag over alleged mass transfer of votes to Yape-Kusawgu

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yape-Kusawgu constituency of the Northern region has started raising eyebrows over what they claim to be a well-orchestrated plan by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to bus people to effect transfer of their votes into the constituency.

According the party in the constituency, they have picked concrete signals that the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC, John Abu Jinapor has finalized plans to bus people in masses to the constituency to effect transfer of their votes to facilitate his ambition of becoming a Member of Parliament in the area.

Addressing a press conference in Tamale Earlier today, the Yape-Kusawgu constituency secretary of the NPP, Amadu Zakaria however appealed to the Security Agencies and the Electoral Commission of Ghana to be on high alert to prevent them from entering in the constituency to perpetrate crime which has the tendency to cause instability in the area.

The Electoral Commission (EC) from today, 18th August to 8th September, 2016 will give opportunity to prospective electorates to transfer their votes from one constituency to the other.

The process will also afford voters who have relocated in view of certain circumstances to constituencies far away from their original or native constituencies.

The NPP secretary however stated that the party is not in any way against the exercise.

He therefore urged Authorities responsible to apply the rules of the game and warned of legal implication to stop those people from the illegal transfer should Electoral Commission fails.
