Laboratory Scientists declare strike

The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists have declared a nationwide indefinite strike which takes effect Monday, August 22.

The Medical Laboratory scientists say they are embarking on the strike due to government’s failure to implement a policy document.

The Eastern Regional chairman of Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Nana Yaw Barimah Manaphraim told Starr News that government has not shown commitment recognizing the crucial role of Laboratory scientists in the health care system.

Mr. Manaphraim said several meetings held with the Minister of Health to launch the policy document to regulate their operations has proved futile.

“The government has refused to pass the policy document for over three years now and the policy document regulates quality when we go to the Hospital,” Mr. Manaphrain.
