Community undertakes development projects

Oblogo (GAR), Nov. 10, GNA – Nii Kwaku Bibini III, Chief of Oblogo in the Ga District has appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to fulfil the conditions to construct a clinic, road, markets and KVIP under which a site was provided for the dumping of waste materials at Oblogo.

He said the chiefs and elders entered into agreement with the AMA that, instead of compensating them with money, road, clinic, markets and a KVIP should be constructed to enhance the living standards of the people but they have failed.

Nii Bibini, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Sunday at Oblogo said due to the hazardous nature of the liquid waste from the filling site, a drainage would be constructed to channel the liquid waste, not to enter into the Densu River but it had also not been done leaving the liquid waste flowing into the river. He expressed regret that because of regular application of the heavy refuse trucks the road had also been deteriorated making life uncomfortable for the people.

Mr Parker Allotey, AMA Public Relation Officer, in reaction said: “We have discussions about Oblogo and we would tackle their plight very soon.” He called on them to exercise restraint.
