Baby thieves escape lynching

Two boys who are said to have been robbing residents of Butumegyabu, a community near Sekondi for a long time, escaped being lynched and burnt to death after the residents who arrested them rescinded their decision not to do so.

The suspects, Nana Kwame and Nana Ahenfia, all 15 years, were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, August, 14, 2016 around 1:00 am at BU near the Takoradi Polytechnic Campus with stolen items including laptops, fans and other personal effects

They were identified to be neighbours in the same vicinity who are suspected to have been frequently breaking into homes and students’ hostels to steal their personal belongings and other property.

This suspicion infuriated the neighbours who arrested them to tie them to a tree, beat them up with a pulp following which they would put lorry tyres around their neck and burn them to ashes.

They were eventually pardoned after a passionate plea from some relatives.
