Cop crushed to death

A police driver with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Command, named only as Vitalise, was killed in an accident at Abesim in the Sunyani municipality at dawn last Saturday.

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicated that the accident happened when the police pickup he was driving rammed into a timber truck carrying logs. He was said to be chasing the truck from the bush. Police officials were tight-lipped on the accident.

The police constable, whose full name was not yet known, this paper learnt, was not in uniform and rumours also had it that he did not sign the service book to indicate where he was going with the police vehicle. DAILY GUIDE gathered he was the only one in the vehicle.

Efforts to get details of the accident from the regional police spokesman, ASP Christopher Tawiah, proved futile as he said he was yet to get details.
