Why patrons at campaign launch deserted President’s speech – Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Kofi Adams, has revealed that most patrons of its campaign launch in Cape Coast abandoned the president’s address to board their vehicles back to their various destinations.

“We announced earlier that those from outside Cape Coast should meet their bus before 6 pm. So that is what happened and you saw people leaving while the President hasn’t finished his speech” Kofi Adams said on Kasapa Fm.

According to him, organizers of the event were of the view the programme will end before 6pm but that was never to be as activities went beyond the stipulated time.

“Our earlier plan was to finish the programme before six; however, other segments were crept into the programme thereby resulting in this situation.

That notwithstanding, Mr. Mahama ostensibly spoke to the millions of Ghanaians who were listening to him from their homes.

Those who came to the programme were about 68,000 but the people listening to the president were in their millions. So you can’t just stop your speech because you feel the crowd reduced. Besides they were still listening from the speakers around outside the stadium. ” He stated.

He observed that organizers should solely be blamed for the lapses adding that a challenge in internet connectivity in the whole of Cape Coast gravely affected the situation.

“We the organizers will take blame for this situation. There was a huge challenge with Internet connectivity in the whole of Cape Coast. The Stadium could be said to be worst in that regard. I even got out of the stadium before I saw messages dropping on my phone which had been sent early morning.

We announced earlier that those from outside Cape Coast should meet their bus before 6 pm. So that is what happened and you saw people leaving while the President hasn’t yet finished his speech”.
