Association launches Educational Endowment Fund

Kumasi, Nov.9, GNA – The National Union of Holy Child past students association (NUHORSA), has launched an education endowment fund to help contribute to the provision of educational facilities and other incentives to the school.

The fund is also meant to facilitate girl-child education in the country through various programmes that the union would out-door in the early part of next year.

Launching the fund at the weekend in Kumasi, Professor (Mrs) Ernestine Addy, National President of the Union, stressed the need for the girl-child to be given equal opportunities as her male counterparts in education.

She noted that the country had reached a stage where the contribution of women to national development could not be over-looked, adding that the institution of Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE), would be meaningless unless the girl-child is motivated enough to go to school.

Professor Addy expressed regret that as one of the elite schools in the country, Holy Child School lacked some basic facilities that could enhance teaching and learning.

She urged all past students of the school to come to the aid of their alma mater, so that the school could achieve its purpose. An appeal for funds yielded 32 million cedis as seed money for the endowment fund.
