Akufo-Addo mourns late Akuapem Nifahene

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Friday, August 5, 2016, joined the chiefs and people of Adukrom in mourning and paying his last respects to the late Chief of Adukrom, Osuodumgya Otutu Kono III, who was also the Akuapem Nifahene.

Accompanied by NPP stalwarts from the Eastern Region, Nana Akufo-Addo was mobbed by thousands of residents, as well as thousands of mourners, as he made his way to the funeral grounds at Adukrom, amidst chants of “afi y? wa fi” and “y?resesamu”.

On behalf of the NPP, a donation, comprising a carton of schnapps, cartons of bottled water, crates of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as a cash donation of GH¢8,000, was made to the Adukrom Traditional Council.

Known in private life as Justice Atta Asare Korang, the late Chief, whose passing occurred on January 31, 2016, was a retired judge of the Court of Appeal. He reigned for nearly 14 years as Chief of Adukrom, from 2002 to 2016

Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied by the MP for Okere, Hon. Dan Botwe; MP for Akwapim South, Hon. O.B. Amoah; MP for Abuakwa South, Hon. Atta Akyea; MP for Kade, Hon. Ofosu Asamoah; former Minister of Finance under President Kufuor, and former MP for Akim Oda, Hon. Yaw Osafo Maafo; and Press Secretary to fmr. President Kufuor, Frank Agyekum; amongst others.
