The Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, has asked Ghanaians to go out to vote for their choices in the December 7 general elections devoid of violence.
He said the country has chosen the path of democratic governance, which demands that the citizenry exercise their franchise in the spirit of tolerance for divergent political opinion.
“There is no need for people to fear that something untoward will happen in the 2016 general election because we are practicing democracy,” he stated, adding, “What we need to do is to tolerate and accept each other’s view or choice”.
Most Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo was speaking at an induction ceremony of eight pastors at the St Cyprian Anglican Church in Kumasi.
He questioned the motive of Ghanaians fighting among themselves along the lines of partisan politics.
Most Rev. Yinkah-Sarfo said it is incumbent on the Electoral Commission to uphold the peace by conducting a free, fair and transparent election.
He also called on the security agencies to be neutral and professional in the discharge of their duties in the election period.
The Anglican Bishop urged the media to be circumspect and accurate in reportage and not peddle falsehood to favour any political party.
