The Chiefs of Okere which is also the Nifa division of the Akuapem Traditional Area has vow to rally their people in support of the Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency, Hon Dan Botwe in his quest to develop the area.
According to the chiefs, there are numerous developmental projects being undertaken by the MP since he assumes office as their representative in Parliament.
Nana Sarfro Okuampa, the chief of Akuapem Aperede who spoke on behalf of Osabarima Opese Konadu ii, the acting Nifahene of Akuapem at the Adukrom palace yesterday after receiving donations from the MP in support of the funeral rite of the late Nifahene of Akuapem, Osuodumgya Otutu Kono iii, said “we are honoured to have Hon Dan Botwe as our MP”.
He added, “he made us proud when he served his party as general secretary and minister. Dan is a well known politician with manners and we are honoured to have him as our MP. In fact we’ve had three MPs since the creation of this constituency and Dan Botwe stand tall among them. We never knew a member of parliament could develop his constituency this much.
“Dan Botwe has initiated projects in every community in the constituency and it’s unprecedented. We therefore entreat all our people to support him in all his endeavors”.
Meanwhile, the constituency chairman of NPP in the Okere constituency, Mr. Oweredu Kwanor who presented a Cow, 100 boxes of water, 10 cartons of whisky, 100 set of streetlights on behalf of the MP was grateful to chiefs and people of Okere for their support and promised to do more.
The funeral of Osuodumgya Otutu Kono III starts today August 2 to the 8th at Adukrom Akuapem”.
Due to the funeral, there have been ban on noise making from July 10 till the end of the funeral rites as part of activities to pay homage to him. During this period, there would be no funerals, weddings etc. within the Akuapem Nifa Division.”
Osuodumgya Otutu Kono III who also doubled as the Nifahene of the Akuapem traditional Council passed away on January 31 this year.
The late chief, known in private life as Justice Atta Asare Korang, was a retired judge of the Court of Appeal.
He reigned from 2002 to 2016 and was known for hard work and development oriented initiatives . He worked hard to restore discipline among the youth.
He left behind a wife and children. He died at 71.
