Invest in Kumasi Prisons – Otumfuo tells government

The Otumfuo Asantehene Osei Tutu II has appealed to government to commit some resources to support the prisons service in the Ashanti region.

The congestion in prison cells coupled with inadequate logistics have been an age long challenge of prisons in the country including the Kumasi Central Prisons.

The prison is sometimes compelled to hire commercial vehicles to transport inmates to the courts and other service areas.

But addressing a delegation of security chiefs at his palace, the Otomfuo asked for more government investment in the prisons to compliment the efforts of the prison officers.
