Don’t jail Montie 3 – lawyer begs Supreme Court

The two radio panelists and the host cited for contempt will today know whether they will walk out of the Supreme Court free or be sent to jail.

The Supreme Court cited the owners of the radio station and the two other panelists of the show for contempt.

The two panelists; Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn were found guilty by the apex court over death threats issued to judges on the Accra-based Montie Fm.

They pleaded for leniency when they appeared before the court last week to explain why they shouldn’t be punished.

Speaking to Starr News a member of their legal team Godwin Tamakloe pleaded with the court to have mercy on his clients.

“It is either you are going to challenge them or admit and move on. Conviction is different from sentencing. There are a lot of things that goes into sentencing. Our prayer is that the court should not impose custodial sentencing on them.”
