The NDC UK and Ireland Chapter has been following the case brought against the host of Montie FM, Mugabe Salifu Maase, and panellists Alistair Nelson and Ako Gunn.
We wish to add our voice to the numerous calls by citizens of this nation who are pleading with the Supreme Court Judges to temper justice with mercy.
We appreciate the effort of the Supreme Court Justices in bringing sanity into our airwaves and diffusing unnecessary tensions in the country ahead of the December 7th general elections.
These three gentlemen have admitted their faults, apologised to the Justices and vowed not to repeat their mistakes. We hope that these genuine apologies would be taken in good faith by the Justices of the Supreme Court and allow them to learn from their mistakes.
Mugabe Salifu Maase, Alistair Nelson and Ako Gunn are citizens of Ghana with good character and have been doing their best to deepen our young democracy.
It is against this background that we are calling on the Justices of the Supreme Court to temper justice with mercy and give them a second chance.
We wish to use this opportunity to advice all Ghanaians especially the youth, political commentators and some members of parliament to be mindful of their utterances when on air and also think twice about what they write or post on social media.
