Police gun down three armed robbers in Kumasi

The Ashanti region police command has gunned down three suspected armed robbers last night at Asuyeboah in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi.

The robbers were part of a syndicate notorious for robbery in the mining areas of Jacobu.

The police had been on the heels of the leader of this gang whose name has been given as Ben Ali who according to police sources led a gang to rob a Chinese miner whose driver was killed in the process.

The deputy regional police commander, ACP Ampofo Duku addressing journalists in Kumasi explained that the police on intelligence yesterday traced this group on one of their operations at Asuyeboah where the gang exchanged fire with the police leading to the death of these three robbers.

Three however managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
