Man, 46, grabbed with eight slabs of ‘wee’

The Police in the New Juaben Municipality in the Eastern region have arrested a 46-year-old man for possessing eight compressed slabs of marijuana also known as ‘wee’.

The man also had in his possession a half sack of uncompressed substance concealed in a travelling bag suspected to be wee.

The suspect, Kwabena Ampah, was arrested on Friday morning in an attempt to board a Toyota Hiace with registration Number ER 2412-12 in Koforidua to Moree in the Central region.

According to the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumeko, the arrest was effected upon police intelligence.

He said, during interrogation, the suspect explained that, the consignment of drugs were given to him by one Akwetey at Obawale near Klo Agogo in the Yilo Krobo District to be given to someone in the Central region.

Superintendent Kumeko stated that the Police is investigating the matter to ensure that possible accomplices are arrested.

He added that the suspect would be processed for Court on Monday while the exhibit will be sent to the laboratory for tests.

The Police Commander commended efforts of his men led by Chief Inspector Ebenezer Sakyi in assisting to reduce crime in the municipality.
