WVI to support education in Mpohor Wassa East district

Ekutuase (W/R), Oct. 30, GNA- The World Vision International (WVI), a Christian Non-governmental Organisation has decided to salvage the falling standard of education in the Mpohor Wassa East District in the Western Region.

In addition, it would help to improve the living standard of the people in the district particularly children, women, the sick and the needy through its various programmes.

To this end, the WVI has adopted the district with funding from Australia for a period of 15 years.

Mr Jacob Krakue Ansah, Food Security Coordinator of the WVI disclosed this at the launch of the WVI’s operation in the district at Ekutuase on Tuesday.

He said apart from helping to improve upon the educational standard in the district, the WVI would provide some basic needs such as school infrastructure, potable water, health facilities, school furniture and encourage the people to undertake income-generating activities to improve their living conditions.

Mr Ansah said all the projects and programmes that are to be initiated would be done with the full participation of the communities, adding that the WVI will provide building materials while the people would provide stones, sand, water and communal labour.

Mr Tawiah Amprofi, District Chief Executive for the area said the WVI’s programmes are in line with the government’s policy on poverty reduction and other measures being taken to reduce economic hardships facing Ghanaians.

Mr Amprofi urged the communities in the district to cooperate and involve themselves actively in the programmes of the WVI for their own benefit.

The WVI has been operating in the Ahanta West district for the past seven years with funding from Australia.
