Stop using our motto – APC warns PPP

The All Peoples Congress (APC) has accused the Progressive People’s Party(PPP) of stealing its motto ‘all inclusive government’.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday endorsed Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom as its flagbearer for the 2016 presidential election at its third national convention at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

Accepting the endorsement Dr Nduom urged Ghanaians to vote out the Mahama led administration for plunging the country into unending hardship and poverty and promised an all-inclusive government.

But speaking on ‘Abusua Nkomo’ on Abusua FM with Kwame Adinkra, the General Secretary for APC Razak Opoku noted that, Hassan Ayariga’s All Peoples Congress was formed with the ‘eradication of the winner takes all’ as its mission statement and the motto being an ‘all inclusive governance’.

According to him, the continuous use of these statements by the flagbearer of PPP, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom indicates the party is confused on its direction and will end up confusing Ghanaians if given the nod. He therefore warned the PPP to desist from plagiarizing the motto of the APC.

“If the PPP believed in unity and an all-inclusive government, why did they choose awake as their motto and the sun as a symbol? If Paa Kwesi has seen the light and wants to join the APC, our doors are open. He shouldn’t move around and be stealing our motto. He can be permitted to use those statements if he gives credit to the All Peoples Congress. We will write to him to desist from plagiarizing our ideas, philosophy and motto. If he doesn’t listen, we will take a legal action. A presidential hopeful must be honest in all his dealings and give recognition to all those who deserves it,” Razak told Kwame Adinkra.
