I’ll use Brazil’s experience to fix Ghana’s Fulani menace – Nana Addo

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo has promised to use the Brazilian experience in tackling the current Fulani problem in Ghana, if voted into power this year.

He states that Brazil, with a population of some 200million people, has a cattle population of some 213 million.

This however has not brought the kinds of problems Ghana has grappled with in the last few years with Fulani heads men. Brazil has put in place policies and measures to ensure that the animals are ranched and therefore do not mingle with the human populace Nana Addo noted.

According to him there are several other ways of handling the nomadic menace which has bedeviled the country for years.

This Nana Addo says his administration would implement if given the mandate.

He said this at Agogo in Asante Akim North Constituency in the Ashanti region to climax his 5-day tour of the region. The constituency is one of the worst affected by the activities of Fulani herdsmen whose cattle destroy farmlands of locals.

The nomadic herders are also accused of raping and maiming the locals.

Few months ago people of Agogo ordered the headsmen out of the area with their animals.

Nana Addo received a rousing welcome at Ejisu, Konongo, Agogo and all the towns he visited. Business and commercial activities came to a standstill during his visited.
