By-election: Abetifi votes for new MP today

The people of Abetifi in the Eastern region are heading to the polls in a by-election today to elect a Member of Parliament.

The by-election has been necessitated by the death of the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the area, Wiafe Prepra.

The ruling National Democratic Congress is not taking part in the polls. The NPP parliamentary candidate, Bryan Acheampong has asked voters to give him the nod.

“Whichever party you vote for determines what kind of development you get; I have a firm resolve to work for change for the entire Kwahu, regardless of where you belong to once you are a resident here, then it’s because of you I’m engaging in politics”, Acheampong said.

Acheampong is contesting candidates of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), the Independent People’s Party (IPP) and the United Front Party.

The EC said polls will open at all polling stations from 7:00am and close at 5: 00 pm. The Commission said adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth exercise.
